We are at Day 4 of the RC2, Lesson 1, with Da 3 Amigos, retrieving dead fowl, dead bird wings, and more dead fowl. I am deliberately using different fowl and doing the retrieves in a variety of different locations.
While I have not 'formally' commanded "HOLD" with the dead fowl types, (the Amigos aren't ready yet), if you watch the videos carefully, you will see that I command "Fetch" and then carefully pull my right hand AWAY from caging their lower jaws for a few seconds. I CAN do this because the "Fetch" command has an implied "HOLD" now even though we've not formally done this work. Watching to see each Amigos, one second at a time, just one second at a time, grasp the implied "HOLD" with the fowl.
Thus far, only Navy and Summer are ready for the RC@ L1 EXAM, perhaps tomorrow when I reintroduce the bloody ducks (from Sunday's class) for each to retrieve. We shall see. At this point, Flax is NOT ready for this EXAM.
One retrieve at a time, one dog at a time, patience, patience and more patience is what is required from me to get them to grasp the concept that now "Fetch" has been expanded to include dead fowl of various shapes'n'sizes.
